Snowflake SSO working for Desktop but not for Service

Hi all,

I have configured the security integration for Power BI using our tenant ID and setup the ODBC driver for Power BI Desktop. I am able to succesfully connect via SSO and import data from Snowflake. However, when I published the report to PBI Service and attempt to configure the data source credentials for oauth as mentioned here I'm getting this error:

Failed to update data source credentials: ODBC: ERROR [28000] Invalid OAuth access token

The Snowflake documentation says to verify external_oauth_issuer is correct and that AAD access token is current. I do not have admin access to AAD, however since I am able to connect from Power BI Desktop shouldn't this be working fine?

Yup I just got the same response from them.  They said the issue should be fixed by EOD today so that people don't need to update that.

@Anonymous are you using PUBLIC as your default role?  We changed ours to a custom role so I'm wondering if it's related to that.

I'm using a custom role as well. The workaround solution provided by Support was to alter the security integration and set external_oauth_audience_list = ('https://analysis.windows.net/powerbi/connector/Snowflake', 'https://analysis.windows.net/powerbi/connector/snowflake')

Yup I just got the same response from them.  They said the issue should be fixed by EOD today so that people don't need to update that.

I just confirmed this was fixed by Microsoft.

Hi there

I would chat to your AAD Admin to ensure that everything is in order and that the accounts are working as expected?

This is happening for my company too. I can log in just fine with OAuth2 so it seems like it's specific to Power BI.
