Slow performance when publishing reports to Power BI

We are experiencing very slow publish times when publishing reports to powerbi.com.

After one hour of "spinning wheel" in Power BI Desktop, it fails with a "Sorry, you don't have access to publish..." error.

Is this related to the performance issue in North Europe?

Hi @Anonymous ,

It will be help if you share some detail information.(e.g. data source type, records amount, column fields amount, connection mode, any advanced operations in query editor...)

Any feedback @v-shex-msft ?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Is there any practical security settings enabled on that workspace?
Did this datasource stored on local or you are getting data from power bi service connector and from specific workspace?

Datasource (as mentioned, Excel) is a local file.

Security-wise, members can publish content to the workspace.

Otherwise, the workspace is running on an A3 Premium instance.

What specifically do you mean by "practical security settings" ?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Has records stored in excel directly or it linked with an external data sources? In addition, I'd like to suggest you use fiddler to trace the publish steps to see if any policy block these requests.

Hi @v-shex-msft ,

Data source is an Excel file (size ~30KB) stored in the dashboard, 10 columns. No advanced query operations.

So really a small and non-complicated dashboard 🙂
