Sharing reports to external clients

Hi, my organisation is currently using Power BI against an Azure SQL data warehouse, and it is working well.  Reports are shared to the web service for internal users to consume.

However, we want to explore the possibility of being able to share data to some of our key external clients.  What we are currently not sure on at the minute is:

aSmiley Happy do these external clients need to have a Power BI Pro Liscense in order to consume the reports?

bSmiley Happy obviously in the data warehouse there is data relating to a number of clients; we would only want the client to have visibility of their data only.  Do we have the capability to address this issue in Power BI?  (I.e make it so the client cannot adjust the filters applied to the reports to return other client's data)

Thankyou!

Re: Sharing reports to external clients

If you want the reports to be interactive they will need Power BI Pro Licenses. They can be their org licenses or assigned to them by your org.

For data protection you should look into creating roles for each client and then implementing Row Level Security on a field that limits the data to each client. As an example if coutnry is a field in the data you can create a role for USA and assign the RLS field Country = USA to that role.

Guys in a cube on YouTube demonstrate how to set it up.
