Sharing outside of organization - what am I missing?

I have dashboards and reports that I need to share outside of my organization. I have a Pro license and the recipient has a Pro license.

In the O365 tenant settings, sharing outside the organization is enabled and limited to a specific group, "Power BI Security Group," of which I am the owner and sole member.

Yet, when I attempt to share a dashboard or report to the external user, I receive the error message, "One or more email addresses are outside your organization" and the Share button is grayed out.

Any advice appreciated!

Yeah, it sounds like it is having some sort of issue validating that you are actually part of that security group. You could check the Issues forum here:

https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/idb-p/Issues

And if it is not there, then you could post it.

If you have Pro account you could try to open a support ticket. If you have a Pro account it is free. Go to https://support.powerbi.com. Scroll down and click "CREATE SUPPORT TICKET".

Have you checked your Power BI Tenant Settings?

https://app.powerbi.com/admin-portal/tenantSettings

There is a separate setting for sharing with external users that is different than your Office 365 tenant settings.

Just checked it. The Power BI Admin Portal has the same tenant settings. Permission for external sharing for members of the designated security group.

Okay. I get the "outside of organization" notice, but the Share button is no loner grayed out and I am able to send.

That solves the immediate problem. Thanks. Now I will have to deal with the security problem created by the "entire organization" setting.

I'll try that. Thanks for the help!

What happens if you set the Power BI Tenant setting to Entire Organization?
