Sharing dashboards to several different Azure AD security groups

Hi there,

I hope this isn't a duplicate question - please let me know if it has already been answered.

My company creates dashboards in Power BI and shares these with several different external users (our clients). We currently manage their access rights using Azure AD security groups and it works quite well.

My question is this - if I give two or more different security groups access rights (read only) to a single dashboard, is it possible for users in either of these groups to see details of users in the other security group?

This is quite important as we are required to segregate client data, we cannot share user details with other clients for obvious reasons, but it is the same dashboard that we share to both organisations (no RLS is required for our purpose).

Thank you in advance,

D

Hi @dbexpress108 ,

According to your description, if you make sure the permissions are set correctly. A user with read-only permissions can only access the content in the security group it is in.

It is important to note that there are two main types of built-in security groups: project-level and collection-level. Users with read-only permissions should be added to the project-level group.

Readers can only view the permissions granted under this path.

For important data involved, you can double-check with the IT administrator who created these security groups.
