Sharing apps outside your organization

Hello,

I've been searching here but I couldn't see an specific answer to this. Sorry if I'm missing something

We want to share apps to clients (different organization), each client have a separate DB therefore they got specific workspace / app.

we can share them the apps and they can open without any problem having a pro account and the link itself, but they can't see our apps within their Power Bi structure (shared with me, list of apps, ...)

How can we make the apps available in Service , for outside organization users? It's not possible? It's a config problem in our tenant or their tenant? I'm not PBI/Azure Admin, by the way, as this is a large company we got a separate team for those tasks but I think they are not so familiar with power bi problems.

thanks

Hi there

I think based on your question what you are looking for is a template app

Here are more details below: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-template-apps-overview

Helo again @GilbertQ

I'm still unable to test this solution, but after carefully reading I think this is not covering 100% our gaps.

-Correct me if i'm wrong, but with this approach Ican share my App in the AppSource with dummy data. Can I just share to specific users these app but connected to the correct db? The thing is that the database it's in "our" side, not on the client side.

With our approach we were creating an App (workspace) for each Client consisting actually in the same pbix/pbit reused but connected to a different db.

ie.

   Workspace "COMPANY 1" -> connect to db "com1_DB" -> same PBIT/PBIX development

   Workspace "COMPANY 2" -> connect to db "com2_DB" -> same PBIT/PBIX development

Is there any easier or better way to do this for multi-client (multi-company) organization?

I really appreciate your help.

Thanks a lot!!!

PS: Nice explanation here in this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xykg2D-PTMU

Hi @Anonymous ,

It is by design that external user can't access the app shared from other organization  in 'shared with me'. They can only access by shared link from e-mail.  If you use the template app , it will be public.

So, you can use pbit file instead. But as you mentioned, they would connect to different db.

Hello @GilbertQ ,

Thanks for your reply. I'm checking the options regarding template apps and it looks interesting. Unfortunetely my first test gave me an error installing my own Template App, i guess because of how its managed here by the admins...

I'll reply as soon as I can manage to find the solution.

Regards
