SharePoint On-premise data refresh with Enterprise Gateway

Hello guys,

I have some problems while connecting my data source from SharePoint On-premise to our Enterprise gateway.

Firstly, I had a big struggle to connect this data to Power BI Desktop, but found a workaround - to map SharePoint as Network drive and upload data as Folder and Files.

I've got data in Power BI Desktop, refresh works fine, uploaded to the Service and tried to add data sources to gateway, but got an error:

The craziest thing is that if I connect to Personal Gateway everything works fine.

Can someone help with this one? Or maybe you have found some others work around regarding SharePoint on-premise data refresh in Service?

Hi @Anonymous ,

If you are using a computer's mapped network path the gateway won't find it.  You have to use the full path for the gateway to see to the location.  And, the location has to be the actual path.  Basically, the path has to be how an outsider would reach that location - a server name and/or URL and the full path to the file.

Going back to the original issue though, SharePoint folders and documents are normally quite easy to get to with Power BI.  When you state that you had issues, is that due to permissions or network firewalls or something non-Power BI directly related?

I would appreciate Kudos if my response was helpful. I would also appreciate it if you would Mark this As a Solution if it solved the problem. Thanks!
