Setting up a Metric for Future Data

Hi,

I am trying to create a connected metric that will count surveys booked in the next month. I have a visual, below, that displays surveys that are booked on our system by month.

However, there are currently no surveys booked for December, so I cannot select the bar that will be there when the first survey is booked. Is there any way to select a data point that currently does not exist, or do I just have to wait until the first one is booked and create the metric then? If so, is there any workaround? If I have to make a new visual, how should I set it up so that the metric I create from it will only show me the number of surveys booked in December, even if that number is 0, and won't count surveys booked before or after?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Lewis

Hi, @LewisElliott

Make sure you have a calendar table and then add custom measure to calculate the number of surveys based on "YearMonth" field in the calendar table.

If it doesn't work, please share a sample file for further research.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. That's a nice solution and it makes sense. Can I select the measure directly when I am choosing what to connect my metric to, or do I still need to put that measure in a visual so that I can select it in this UI?

(apologies for my poor quality censorship)

Hi, @LewisElliott

I'm not sure if the former is possible.

I would probably lean toward the latter.
