Session Expired - not embedded

Good afternoon,

We have clients receiving the following message 'Your Power BI Session expired The current Power BI session can no longer be used to communicate with the Power BI service because of a service modification. You must close and re-open your browser to start a new session.'

I looked at other posts and they seemed to be tied to an embedded feature, but ours is not.

Any help is appreciated-thanks,

Erika

We are experiencing the same issue, not embedded but then the apps are accessed by guest accounts.

Hi @Erika ,

If it is not Embedded, it is not very common, what scenario is it caused Session Expired?

Could you please show some screenshots?

Please don't contain any Confidential Information or Real data in your reply.

Please make sure to add the corresponding user in the workspace, make sure the user has a Pro license.

Hi _ zhenbw,

The issue is in the Power BI service. The user does have a pro license. It is not someone that should have access to the workspace, but they do have access to the app which is where this pops up.

Since it is just while they are looking at a page in the service, I can't include anything except the error because it is their view of the Power BI service and their app.

It looks like others that are not embedded are also having this issue from the replies.

Thanks,
Erika

It appears to be an Azure B2B issue that a lot of guest users are having and they are fixing it area by area. They haven't corrected it in the South Central yet, but did in a few other regions.

When you look at your post, on the right hand side you may see Recommendations for posts that have similar topics. This one might provide a clue

Yes, however, the posts refer to embedded issues which would not be a problem that I have.

No that post does not talk about embedded.  Well, not really.  It refers to the practice of end users accessing ready made report pages via iframes, without any interaction of the iframe contents with the host website.  "Power BI Embedded" is an entirely different animal.

Thanks for clarifying/checking.

It seems like both that post and the solution use the embedded verbiage, but we are also not using iframes or an embed report link. This message is just appearing when using the regular Power BI service so as far as I can see, it is a little bit different than other issues that I have seen.

Hoping to figure it out!🤞🤞
