Select Slicer value onload of PowerBI report in PowerBI Service

All,

I have two separate reports published in PowerBI Service, Report 1 and Report2. Both have different URLs.

I have Countries slicer on both reports.

On Report 1 I have a button which navigates to Report 2. So user selects a value from Countries slicer and clicks on Report2 button.

Is there any way when Report 2 opens it should have Countries slicer already selected to selected value from Report1?

Thanks

Hi there! I can think in three different approaches for this but none of them is exactly as you describe. The first one keeps the visual slicer filtered but the other two won't show the visualization filtered even though they are filtered.

1- Build a Single report combining A and B. Then hide pages from B (if you can navigate it from button). Sync slicers. With countries slicer synced you can navigate with the button to any report page showing the country filtered.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/power-bi-visualization-slicers#sync-and-use-slicer...

2- Using drillthrough report.. You can create a button to drillthrough country to another page or report. You need to click one country and go there. The only problem might be that slicers won't enable the button to drillthrough, you might need a table or another visual.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-drillthrough
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-cross-report-drill-through

3- Power Bi URL Filter. You can build a measure that will generate a URL to Report B filtered by the selected country. Then change the button actions to web url adding as FX (custom function) the measure with the URL resulted. This is how the syntax works. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-url-filters

I hope one of those make sense for you.
