Scheduled refresh not working, manual refresh occasionally works

Hi everybody,

I have several datasets that are failing to refresh via a scheduled refresh, but when I refresh them manually/on-demand they work just fine.  I am using an On Premisses Enterprise Gateway connecting to connect to the data.  And every time a scheduled refresh fails, we get the following messages: "Gateway is unreachable or offline" or "Unable to connect to data source Undefined".

Everything were working fine until last week. The Gateway version installed is 3000.18.21 - Version from December/19 Update.

I also looked at Microsoft Power BI support website and there is no warning related to this problem.

Anyone facing the same issue?

Thanks!

Hi there

If the error is Gateway is offline I would make sure that there are no connectivity issues with the gateway.

Which appears to be happening with the infrequent errors you are getting.

It could possibly be network connectivity that is the issue, which I would look into.

Thank you for your reply.

At first, I had the same thought about the network connectivity, but I've already checked it and everything is fine.

Today I get refresh errors again and all with the same message: " Unable to connect to data source Undefined".

Any ideas how to solve it?

Thanks for help!

It would appear that your Gateway server is having an issue connecting to the data source?

Can you log into the Gateway server and connect successfully to the data source?

I've checked the Gateway and it's online, also the data source connection is sucessful.

-> Can you log into the Gateway server and connect successfully to the data source?

Yes, the connection is fine.

I've restarded the service, but still getting this error message occasionally:

Something went wrong
Unable to connect to the data source undefined.

Código de erro subjacente-2147467259 Table: XXXX.

Mensagem de erro subjacente: We're sorry, an error occurred during evaluation.

Thanks for helping me!

Hi there

That error indicates that there is an issue with your data source.

What you can do on the server where the Gateway is installed to enable verbose logging. This will allow you to see all the events that happen and when there is an error, exactly what the error was.
