Scheduled refresh for a Power BI created dimension table

Hi all,

I have a direct query report where I have connected to dimension tables through Live connection. First I created the dimension tables needed in Power BI ("Create table") and published the report/dataset, then I connected to these in the direct query report (if I created the tables in the direct query report it would change form direct query to mixed mode).

The problem is that one of the dimension tables is a datetime-correction based on the TODAY()-function. Thus I need the dimension tables in Power BI Service to update every day, but this is seemingly isn't possible. I get the following error message in the settings for the dimension tables:

"Refresh can't be scheduled because the data set doesn't contain any data model connections, or is a worksheet or linked table. To schedule refresh, the data must be loaded into the data model."

Does anyone know if and how it is possible to solve this problem?

Best regards,

Ole

Hi @hr_tetra

What you would need to do is to have a table which can be refreshed, that will then allow everything else to also be refreshed.

Even if the data is not needed, it has to have something to refresh!
