Scheduled Refresh with Access Databases

Hello,

I have a report that has an Access database as the data source. I initially ran into issues with the Power BI desktop application where it would fail to refresh (as it was locking the database due its behaviour in querying the data source using multiple threads). On the desktop app, unchecking "Enable parallel loading of tables" in "Options > Data Load" resolved this issue completely.

I've recently placed this report to the Power BI website and configured a scheduled refresh on the dataset, but I am seeing similar issues where almost all scheduled refreshes will fail due to locking the database. Is there a setting or .cfg file for the on-premises data gateway software to force similar behaviour of disabling parallel loading of tables (or possibly some other solution I am overlooking)?

If it helps, here is a copy of one of the errors I've received when trying to initiate a refresh manually from the website:

Re: Scheduled Refresh with Access Databases

There are config files in the installation directory, such as:

C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\On-premises data gateway (personal mode)

  • ApplicationInsights.config
  • Microsoft.PowerBI.DataMovement.GatewayCommon.dll.config
  • Microsoft.PowerBI.DataMovement.PersonalGateway.exe.config
  • Microsoft.PowerBI.DataMovement.Pipeline.Diagnostics.dll.config
  • Microsoft.PowerBI.DataMovement.Pipeline.GatewayCore.dll.config
  • PersonalGatewayConfigurator.exe.config
