SSAS datasource - does this involve reading/storing data twice?

Hi,

currently import data from oracle + sql server databases into power bi.

If were to uses ssas as a datasource my understanding is that this would involve reading/storing data twice - once to import into ssas then again to import the same ssas data into power bi.

From this perspective, not seeing any advanatges to using ssas over power bi datasets.

Could you confirm this would indeed involve double reading/storing and discussion of any advs of ssas over power bi datasets.

Thanks

Hi @po ,

When you are using the SSAS, you could refer to using live connection mode, which would not import data to your pbix and make your data refresg fast, you may refer to below link:

Hi,

Thanks for update though believe can use direct query with power bi.

Also, with imprt mode and SSAS as datasource, is it the case that the data woudl be imported twice?

Thanks
