SSAS Tabular Cube user and password error

Hi community.

We have a issue between Power BI service and an On Premises Tabular Cube (SSAS Tabular). According to the installation instructions, we installed the Enterprise Gateway with a Service Account for this purpose, in addition to enabling ports and IP addresses used by Power BI. Next to this, we created a new DataSource in a Gateway previously configured, using a On Premises Tabular cube source. The connection between this 2 components was success, but when we try to use this source to make a new report, Power BI sends us "The User name or password is incorrect".

After trying different solution, we believe this issue is  assign the right permission in Active Directory , because we created a new AD user with low security in Active Directory, read permission in cube (with a "read" role) and access to Power BI Services (pro Account) and Power BI send the same issue. But when we granted "Domain Admin" to this user in Active Directory, we created a new report using data from the cube. And a last test, when we removed the "Domain Admin" to the test user, the message "The user name or password is incorrect" did not appear and was possible to use data from the cube.

This is a Active Directory issue, because the error message is send by Analysis Services, so we believe AD did not send to the cube a valid user and we dont know how to solve this problem.

Please, if you have a idea what going on here, help us.

Thank you for your time.

Hi @sgarces,

Firstly, when you add SSAS data source under Gateway, which username and password do you input? If you use a different account to sign in Power BI Service, and use Get Data to connect to the ssas data source, you would need to add this account in the Users tab of the data source under gateway in advance.

Secondly, please check that if the email address you use to sign in Power BI Service matches a defined UPN within the local Active Directory Domain. If a match cannot be found, the above error could occur, and you can use “Map user names” feature to solve this issue. For more details, please review this article: Manage your data source - Analysis Services.

Thanks,
