SAP BW connectivity issue form Gateway in portal

Hi,

I am working on a power BI report to pull data from SAP BW system. I can connect to SAP BW from Power BI desktop and was able to publish to the portal.

I would like the super user to edit and run the report as needed and I thought to use on-premise gateway to refresh the data on the portal. I've installed and configured on-premise gateway and was able to connect to SQL server from the powerbi.com portal. However, when I want to add the data source for SAP BW then I'm getting the following error.

My questions are.

1) I would like to know what's the best approach to deliver the report to super users who can customize and run the report to the portal.

2) Is there anything that I'm missing for connecting to the on-premise gateway.

Thanks.

Hi @biflake,

1. You can create a app workspace and publish the report to this app workspace, add these super users as app workspace with Edit permission. So these users can edit reports by themselves. See: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-create-distribute-apps

2. From the error message, it seems there is a issue with credential entered when you create a SAP BW data source in the gateway. As you can connect to SAP BW successfully in Power BI desktop, ensure you use the same credential as in desktop.

Best Regards,
Qiuyun Yu
