Row-Level Security in combination PowerBi groups

Hello there,

I' m playing around with Row level security in the cloud.

I made it dynamic with a role using rule [email] = username().

Works perfect when I share a dashboard from "My workspace", also when the user clicks on a visual and ends up in the report, still everything is flter as needed.

Also tried it in combination with powerbi groups.....then it fails. all memember/users see all data, rules are configured exactly the samen in "my workspace" as in the powerbi group.

ps1:  if I use a static rule like [nr] = 6, it also fails.

ps2: when i use "Test data as role" it filters correctly.

Anyone tried ..known issue?

Kind regards Wouter

I thought I saw something in the limitations at one time that RLS didn't work with group workspaces and an Idea out there to make it work with group workspaces, but I can't find either reference at the moment.

Thanks for your reply. I thought so to, but I cannot find the reference either.

Hi Wouter,

As you can see on the link below
You can add a member to the role by typing in the email address, or name, of the user, security group or distribution list you want to add. This member has to be within your organization. You cannot add Groups created within Power BI.
