Reports not showing in list

Hi!

This is maybe by design, but I can't find an answer. I've a customer starting out using free service. I've created reports and a dashboard using only free "components". I share it with a couple of persons. They see the dashboard and can click on a visualization to get to the underlying report.

But my question is, in their work area they see the dashboard but not the reports. This means that when they click to the report they see it in the "main area", but they don't see the name in their list, i.e. their list of reports is empty.

Is this by design? Can I change this behaviour in any way?

I believe that this is "by design". I am not aware of a way to change that behavior unless you use Group Workspaces but then you are venturing into Pro territory.

What you describe is the free sharing approach. Here is a lot more capability for the paid service as I cover here

Power BI pro is dirt cheap, so consider paying for the pro service to get the features you want/need and to encourage MS to build new features.

I can't really see the reason behind it. In other words. A Power BI free user can never see a report in their list unless they create the report themselves?

I totally agree with Power BI being cheap and worth going PRO. It's just that my client aren't at the right time to decide on a tool just yet.

@hargel maybe a paid pilot of 3 users for 12 months at $300 would b a cheap way to help validate. There is also a pro sixty day free trial to help evaluate the pro features

Well, it is free after all, you kind of can't fault Microsoft too much for what they offer in something that is utterly free to use. It is surprisingly dead useful what you can do with it without paying for it. 🙂
