Report refresh upon dataset refresh

I currently have a report created using data from a mySQL server. This report has slicers and a timeline so that others in my organization can filter the data. Currently, I can schedule dataset refreshes, but the report itself doesn't update unless I manually update it. I know that pinning visual to a dashboard will update them automatically when the dataset is updated, but because there are slicers/timelines, having a pinned visual doesn't allow the user to interact with the report. Is there anyway to have the report update when the dataset is refreshed?

If you want to keep slicer's interaction , you could pin a live page to dashboard.

You have a couple of options - mainly related to changing the data source to Direct Query mode. That would make the scheduled refresh obsolete, and would also allow you to set up auto page refresh for individual pages.

If for some reason you need to keep your scheduled refresh then user education is the only way (mostly teaching them how to press F5 in their browser)

My database is a mySQL server, so Direct Query isn't supported. I hadn't realized that embedded reports are refreshed upon opening though, so actually I don't think it's too much of a problem anymore.
