Report refresh problem: "The on-premises gateway restarted while refresh was happening."

Hi,

 

Our reports cannot be refreshed because of the following error in Service:

 

“It looks like scheduled refresh failed because the on-premises gateway restarted while refresh was happening. Double-check that the data gateway is continuously running for the next scheduled refresh”

 

There were some windows updates pending on our gateway server for some reason, but server has been up and running whole time. Rebooting hasn’t helped, nor updating to the latest gateway version. Status check in Manage Gateways gives green light, but when you try ty to refresh any report you get error message mentioned above.

 

Following error can be found in Gateway logs: “DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_SpooledOperationMissing, error short name UnknownSpooledOperationIdException”

 

Has anybody else encountered this?

Hi,

 

Eventually gateway server even stopped writing log files. This lead us to idea that gateway user didn't have sufficient access rights. Problem was solved granting gateway user admin rights. This is not an ideal solution, but at least things are working now.

Parece que uma atualização agendada falhou porque o gateway local foi reiniciado enquanto uma atualização estava acontecendo. Verifique novamente se o gateway de dados está continuamente em execução para uma próxima atualização agendada.
Tente novamente mais tarde ou entre em contato com o suporte. Se você entrar em contato com o suporte, forneça esses detalhes.

Hi @joonasjaspi,

Could you have tried to restart your gateway and configured your dataset again? And you could also check the status of refresh history if the time duration is about 2 hours. If they are all fine, please create a support ticket here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/support/pro/.
