Report Usage Metrics NOT including APP Activity

The Report Usage Metrics would be an extremely useful tool to hold key stakeholders accountable, sadly, it does not seem to include activity from the APPS section of Power BI Service, which is the main way we share reports with our institution - this must be some kind of error.

Can someone please clarify for me if App access activity is supposed to be available in the Report Usage Metrics and is indeed an issue on the MS side?

If so – how can I get this fixed. The only other option at this point would be to use audit logs but I would prefer not to build something new if what exists could be easily fixed or updated.
Thanks All!

Hi there

No worries, what you would need to do is to either download the audit logs using PowerShell or you could try and use Miguels Custom data connector here: https://github.com/migueesc123/PowerBIRESTAPI

This is also a little technical.

Hi there

As far as I know currently the Report Usage Metrics App does not include App views.

You would need to get the data from the Audit Logs, which I can confirm has got the details for viewing of Apps.

Thanks, Gilbert - Might have to submit this as an Idea that will hopefully get a lot of traction.

Frankly, I'm shocked that this functionality doesn't currently exist - apps are the primary point of access for most users at our organization.

yeah that would be ideal.

I am busy using the new Get-PowerBIActivity REST API, which does have the details of when someone accesses the report via an App.

Sorry - I'm not very tech-savvy; Is this a "Get Data" option?

Is there a way to feed the audit logs into the service to be used in a visualization? <(O.O)>
