I thought you no longer had to click the "Refresh" icon to bring in new data to the report? Was I wrong?

In Power BI desktop or the cloud? Either one I think you are wrong

Hi @Razorbx13
In Power BI Desktop, if you import data from data sources into the report, you need to click Refresh button to bring in new data. If you use DirectQuery or Live Connection to connect to data sources, you don't need to click Refresh button as your interactive operations in the report will query data from data sources directly.
In Power BI Service, the situation is similar. For data that is imported into the data model, you need to refresh the dataset to bring in the latest data from data sources. For DQ and LC report, it will send queries to data sources directly when you open the report, edit the report or do some interactive operations on the report.
