Repeated refresh failure

I am having major issues today with refresh. My reports are failing due to credentials but the credentials are not the issue. Here is the error message I am getting:

Failed to update data source credentials: Failed to connect to a database. Error message: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.MashupEngine, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.Hide details

I have filed a ticket but am hoping that someone here can offer faster assistance.

and BOOM, just like that . . . I fixed it. It was the gateway. I uninstalled, reinstalled, and revalidated my credentials. Now it is working.

What is the data source?

Both sources fail independently. One is an excel file table (DimDate) and the other is sql server database.

May not matter, but personal or enterprise gateway? Is Excel file on-premises in a folder or OneDrive? SQL Server on-premises?

Sorry, want to see if I can recreate exactly.

Sorry, I should have provided more details. The excel file is in one drive. The sql server database is on premise. The refresh failure is occuring within a group. I can, obviously, refresh the dataset through the desktop and upload that to the group files area. The failure sites invalid credentials but they are windows credentials and . . .  well I am logged in and working.

And, forgot to add, personal gateway.

OK, I imported and connect to an Excel file on OneDrive for Business and was able to refresh them. Not sure if that exactly mimics your scenario or helps you in any way whatsoever.

I am still gettting a failure. I even replaced the source file on the dataset and it refuses to refresh. It is cascading through other data sets now.

Filed a ticket. Hopeing for help.

@Sandy and @Greg_Deckler this started after I updated the gateway. Could the gateway be causing this?

@kcantor - That's certainly a possibility. Then again, I'm not sure the gateway comes into play with OneDrive files.

Glad you got it fixed, so you reinstalled the same version of the gateway or the previous version?

Oddly enough, I reinstalled the exact same version. Not sure what exactly happened but it must have had a misstep in the update/install.
