Refreshing a dataset from another dataset

Hello,

We currently have 6 datasets pulling information from our Oracle Server. 5 of these datasets are derivatives of one dataset. I was wondering if there is a way to have the 5 datasets refresh from the one main dataset instead of all 6 pulling information from our Oracle server?

@Cseneff You can make use of shared dataset in power bi which will meet the requirement you need to refresh only one dataset rest all will be refreshed automatically. With shared dataset your other reports created will be live connected to the main dataset and will be up to date...

@Anonymous Thank you for your reply. We already have the First dataset shared. I guess the best way to explain this is that we have 5 datasets that are made from the one MAIN dataset. These 5 datasets have differing relationships, measures, and we remove columns that aren't needed in order to increase the speed of making and using our reports (some reports will need all 115 tables, whereas other may only need a handfull).

We are wondering if we can make the lineage as follows:

Main Dataset refreshes from Oracle Server

Datasets 2-6 refresh from Main Dataset

Any other help would be appreciated.

Hi , @Cseneff

How are these 5 datasets created in your current reports?

Powerbi can support you to create 5 reports from the same main dataset .But it doesn't support make some modifications to the original data model once you connect to the dataset, such as creating calculated columns, changing relationships between tables .
I'm afraid you can only refresh the reports one by one for different datasets.

If possible ,you can check whether the dataflow  can work for you.
