Refresh of Data from on-premises and cloud based service

Hi there,

I have a report that gets data from Salesforce and SQL server. I installed personal data gateway and set the scheduled refresh. When it refreshed, it threw following error:

Underlying error message: Information is needed in order to combine data
DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingHResult: -2147467259
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.MashupSecurityException.DataSources: [{"kind":"SQL","path":"Servername\\PROD"},{"kind":"Salesforce","path":"https://******.my.salesforce.com/"}]
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.MashupSecurityException.Reason: PrivacySetting

Request ID: 47460d46-9b24-4d58-b00d-1314bbb4b8ff

Could anyone help me where I made the mistake?

Hi @Dunner2020 ,

Please download the report and open it in Power BI desktop, go to Query Editor, refresh data to see if any message pops out. Also please go to the Data Source Settings, click on Edit Permission for these two data sources points to two databases, ensure both privacy level is Organizational.

Then republish the report to Power BI service, go to Manage Gateways, ensure Privacy Level for the SQL data sources is Organizational as well. Then refresh the dataset again.

Hi @Dunner2020

The error is due to the Privacy settings in your PBIX file.

If you want to get it working you would set the Privacy level to NONE for each of the data sources

Here are more details on the Power BI Privacy Levels: Chris Webb's BI Blog: Data Privacy Settings In Power BI/Power Query, Part 1: Performance Implication...

@GilbertQ , Both databases privacy level are already set to none as shown in the pictures

Hi @Dunner2020

Ahh ok thanks, I think you might need to install the Standard Gateway, this will allow you to configure the privacy settings in the Power BI Service for those gateways?
