Hello Support Team,
I have a PBI project connected to an SQL Azure DB.. it refresh normally from PowerBI desktop version but it fails regularly from PowerBI service, regardless if I use a gateway or not..
The error below is the same every time it fails, only the "table name" at the end of the error message get changed..
Message: Microsoft SQL: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.) Table: <Table name1 or Table name2>
Cluster URI: WABI-NORTH-EUROPE-redirect.analysis.windows.net
Activity ID: bb6c39e3-8cbe-4cf7-9be9-8443c61dc4bb
Request ID: 10fbd366-6959-c4f8-cedd-cf53097229e6
Time: 2019-07-16 15:24:03Z
It does not seem to be an issue caused by the DB Server because connections from different sources to the same DB work normally
Could you please help!
Regards,
Paulino
hi, @pcampos03
Please try to update the gateway to the latest version,
and please follow this article to check if the issue related to firewall or proxy settings: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-gateway-onprem-tshoot#firewall-or-proxy
and if you still have the problem, You can open a ticket in Power BI support site. Provide the ID code of this error, power bi support team will give you further help.
Regards,
Lin
