Refresh? Publish? Gateway?

Hello,

I have created a nice report in Power BI desktop that i published to Power BI Service (that's the browser version, right?). My report is based on a dataset, which pulls data from three different web sources.

I now want to share my report with colleagues, who should be able to refresh the dashboard without my help. However, when i click 'Refresh' on the dashboard in my browser, the data does update. However, when i click refresh in my report on Power BI Desktop, there is new data loaded.

How do i now push this new data from PowerBI Desktop to PowerBI Service (or browser)? More importantly, is it possible for my colleagues to 'pull' new data from PowerBI Service, without requiring me to refresh in the Desktop report first?

I tried setting up a Gateway for this, but unfortunately all the documentation seems outdated. There used to be a Personal and an Enterprise version, but now it seems there is only one type of Gateway. Unfortunately there are 2 documentations, neither of which is correct.

Would be great if anyone knows how to move this forward!

Thanks,

David

OK, got the gateway up and running - there's now one installer that does both Personal and Enterprise gateways.

Also managed to refresh the data from the browser now. Noted that i first have to refresh the dataset on the left-hand pane, and then click refresh on the top of the report page. Not super intuitive, but problem solved in the end 🙂
