Hi,
I have set up an enterprise gateway for one of my workspaces, however recently the refresh has failed. PBI Online displays the warning "The gateway is low on memory. Please review active processes on the machine and restore enough memory for the refresh to succeed".
I have increased the RAM of my pc, and currently my pc memory is running on 5.9/11.9GB. Though I am able to now perform the dataset, why did I receive this warning? and what can I do to eliminate the chances of this error to occur again?

It sounds like your device executes heavy workloads on the backend, they spend lots of system resources so that your device can't assign enough idle memory resources for gateway operations.
If this is a case, I'd like to suggest you install your gateway to other devices which in your organization domain and have enough permission to access your database.(power bi does not require to install gateway on the device which existed datasource, it allow you to installed on same domain another device to access and handle data refresh)
