Random error while downloading data from Power BI dataset (500 Error in Running XMLA in Dedicated)

Hi guys,

I'm strugling very strange problem while working with power bi desktop.

Environment:

I have dataset uploaded to power bi service (with dedicated capacity) and several power bi separate reports that are connected to it (using power bi dataset data source). Dataset has few SQL server data sources (also with DirectQuery).

Issue:

When I'm working with reports (those connected to power bi dataset) on power bi desktop I randomly get error on visuals without any description (sorry for polish)

It is not deterministic. Sometimes it appears on one visual, sometimes on other - without any rule. After sniffing web traffic I can see HTTP 500 from power bi service

I have no idea where should I look for cause (SQL server? Power BI dedicated capacity?)

Potential cause:

Before it start to happened few things happened:

  • I changed dedicated capacity cluster (for bigger one)
  • I add few tables to source dataset

I thing that this should have nothing to my issues but maybe I'm wrong.

Biggest problem is that that I don't have any error description and problem is not deterministic.

Thanks for any tip.

Best regards,

Jakub

Hi @pyskaty ,

I can't reproduce this problem. You could try import mode and check if it works.

If the problem still exists, you could create a support ticket here.
