RLS, Sharing & Dashboards

Hi Power BI Pros,

I have a 5 page report which is as follows:

1) Overview

2) Staff Comparison

3) Staff Dashboard - RLS enabled

4) P4 (not relevant)

5) P5 (not relevant)

I have 1 group of people who need to be able to see all 5 pages, and another group who wants to only see P2 and P3.

P2 requires all data for all staff whereas P3 only shows data relevant to the user who logs in (i.e. RLS enabled)

Ideally I would only have 1 dataset and create different dashboards via pinning but due to the RLS requirement, i am currently running 2 reports and data sets.

How do i go about creating a second dashboard with just P2 and P3?

At the moment i have P2 pinned from the first report, and P3 pinned from the RLS report. However i still need to grant my users access to the first report otherwise they cannot see P2.

Additional Question: Is it possible to grant access to a pinned dashboard, but not the underlying report?

Thanks

Oneiricer

Re: RLS, Sharing & Dashboards

Hi @Anonymous,

Currently we cannot apply RLS by pages. I suggest to create reports seperatly to work around. For the additional question, based on my test, Everyone you share your dashboard with can see it and interact with the related reports in Reading View. They can't create reports or save changes to existing reports.

You can come up a new idea about that and add your comments there to improve Power BI and make this feature coming sooner.
