RLS Not Working for People Removed as Members

Hi there,

I had a few people who were members of a workspace but have since had to change them to viewers due to changes in role. However, RLS still appears to be showing them all data as if they were still members.

I have refreshed Power BI, republished the report, removed and re-added them to the role and removed and re-added their access but nothing seems to be working.

Any ideas as to why this is happening or is it a glitch?

@JK_PowerBINew  - Do you have any AD groups added to your workspace as Contributor / Member / Admin. May be they are part of those AD groups?

Alos, try the below steps and see if it resolves.

On the report, go to Manage Permissions (click on the three-dots > select Manage Permissions).  Check if the removed users or viewers have direct access and the type of Permissions. Remove them from here if needed.

Similarly, go to the Dataset > Manage pemrissions. And make sure they don't have a build permissions.

Also, I would ❤ Kudos if my solution helped.  It is a token of appreciation!

Thank you very much !

Hi there!

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Everyone who needs to see the report has direct access but they all have read only permissions and RLS works for those people who were never previously members.

Those for who the RLS is not working they are not part of a AD Group for which there are members and they do not have build permissions.
