RLS Issue: "Something Went Wrong - The Role Could Not Be Updated"

I've been adding users to a new dataset, and it was all going smoothly until it wasn't. Now I when I slick Save, after adding thier name to the role, the wheel spins for a long time and then I get this message:

Can you afford to start over, or to test this on a copy of your dataset?  How many members does the role have?
