Hello,
On Power BI Premium, is there any way to query the status of a refresh initiated by TMSL?
Some background:
We have a need to initiate a dataset refresh specifying the Effective Date. This seems to be available only via TMSL, not via REST API.
However, as far as I can see TMSL does not seem to include commands for querying refresh status. Also as far as I can see, when a refresh is inititated with TMSL it is not recorded on Power BI Service, so querying the refresh history of the dataset does not return the refresh initiated with TMSL.
Thanks in advance for any pointers
Hi @bongmw ,
It seems that you are right. I suggest you create an idea for it in https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas to improve the power bi.

Hi @v-deddai1-msft ,
I tried this. If the refresh was initiated using TMSL, the refresh attempt is not visible from the refresh history.
I presume the refresh history only handles the PBI Service side of things?
Hi @bongmw ,
You could use the api to get the refresh history, it contains OnDemand, Scheduled and ViaApi. Please refer to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/datasets/getrefreshhistory#refreshtype
