Queries from Application insights do not properly refresh

Hi,

 

As stated in the subject, I am having problems with the refresh in Power BI Service. 

What I have done:
Built and exported queries from Application Insights into Power BI Desktop, imported through Blank Query. When I refresh in Power Bi Desktop it work properly and new data gets added.

I published the report to Power BI Service and set up a gateway to refresh the content. The gateway is up and running and I am able to set it to refresh, but no new data is added to the report. 

Question:

Is the Gateway not able to process Blank queries? Or I am missing somthing?

Hi Christofer,

 

Firstly, I would suggest you upgrade the personal gateway to On-premises data gateway (personal mode) .

Secondly, I would like to know what the application is. A blank query may connect to some data source. Though the gateway supports a large number of data sources, there are still some exceptions.

Thirdly, did you get any error message?

@Anonymous Did you set the refresh on the dataset? or are you just hitting the refresh button in reports/dashboards?

Did you install the personal or enterprise gateway? If things link up and look good on the dataset, then you should be good. The only other caveat is that if you set a time, it doesn't mean it will exactly refresh at that time. The "official" answer is they try to refresh within the hour, usually sooner, but don't expect an immediate refresh on the time you set.

I have tried both hitting the refresh button and set schedual. Its been up and running for days and every refresh has been successfull, but no new data is actually added.

I am using the personal gateway.

Were you able to resolve this issue? I'm facing a similar issue.

 

When I click "Refresh" on "PowerBI" Portal, no new data gets loaded.

However when I refresh on PowerBI Desktop App, it loads the data on the desktop page. I'm having to manually Publish the page from Desktop to Portal inorder to load the data.

 

I've followed the steps mentioned here. Are there any additional configuration needed for this?
