Putting Existing Reports in New App Workspace

Hello,

I am working on using the New App workspace as a method of report organization so that non-technical end-users in my organization will be able to easily access the reports without having to sift through numerous irrelevant workspaces and reports.

I am wondering if I create a new app, will I be able to take a report that already exists in a different workspace and put it in to that application, especially with reports that have live data refresh. As well, if this is possible, if a data scientist on my team edits the original report, will the report in the new app workspace be automatically updated? Or will one have to manually make the changes to a report that exists in more than one workspace.

Thank you

Hi @Anonymous

Eidt:

My answer previously is based on the old app workspace.

If your report is in the new app workspace, you can copy reports across workspaces.

More details:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-datasets-across-workspaces#copy-a-report

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-create-the-new-workspaces

Previous answer:

Based on my knowledge, you are unable to take a report that already exists in a different workspace and put it in to that new application.

The reports in different workspaces are not connected.

So for a report that exists in more than one workspace, making changes to a report in one app workspce doesn't affect reports in other workspace.

Best Regards
Maggie
