Push Dataset - New Table

How does one go about creating a new table within a Push Dataset in Power BI

Dont see any option on Dataset Settings when in log in to powerbi.com -> Dataset Settings

Dont see any guidance on Push Dataset Microsoft documentation - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/pushdatasets

Hi @wtfstoops ,

Try the specific steps given in the following blog, create Push dataset in PowerBI service, and create a table visual.

Convert push dataset to pushstream dataset by enabling Historic Data Analysis

And then a dataset will be created and you will be able to use it further.

Did I answer your questions? Give a thumbs up and accept this post as solution!

how does that address the question of adding a table to an existing push dataset.

I followed the steps above - Seems like its asking me to create an entirely new dataset, with column names etc.  That will a pain for creating one for datset with more than 60 columns.

@wtfstoops

Where is your own dataset?

Mine was "Test Live streaming".

So back to my original post/question.  How do you create a table within an exsting push dataset.

Not sure why @_sfrost suggested going down the streaming dataset route.

I see this question still hasn't been answered, and it's not obvious at all how to do it anywhere. Certainly not in the webservice, and even the documentation is a bit hazy.

From my understanding, you can't do this via the webservice, and even if you opened the datset up within Power BI Desktop you still can't do it.

I believe the only way to add more than one table to a push dataset is my implementing the dataset via the API, as documented here:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/push-datasets

Perhaps someone can confirm this though.
