Currently I have the following setup.
Dataset That Is Pushed In From Microsoft OMS. In the source it has list of IPs and Dates. As far as I can see this data set I can't do anything with it in terms of adding calculation fields etc. I can't also edit this data set in Desktop (unless I am missing something obvious)
I created new dataset in Desktop version to add a function that takes IP address and outputs the location. and uploaded to service etc
I wanted to add function using calculated column for the first data set but unable to as previously said this fixed. So my thinking is that I import first dataset into second data set.. But can't see any obvious way to do this either in service or desktop versions.
Anyhelp will be appreciated

It sounds like you created a dataset in the Service using a Content Pack, although I am not familiar with a Microsoft OMS content pack. You are correct that you cannot add calculations and such in the Service. What you need to do is to connect directly to the database behind OMS from the Desktop and import your data that way. Then you will be able to do what you want.
Hello
Thank you for replying.
The OMS not a traditional content pack as it seems like OMS pushes direct to PowerBI. The question then is their an easy way to find the database source?

Hmm, looks like a Cloud-based product so not sure you are going to get access to it. I'll see if I can provision an account and take a look
