Process Mining using Power BI

Hello,

I am looking at this Power BI webpage where KPMG has incorporated "process mining" visualisation into Power BI which is amazing. See here..

https://app.powerbi.com/view?r=eyJrIjoiNTY2N2QzNDUtZTI1NC00ZDYyLThlOWQtYWY1ZmYyNzU1ZWVjIiwidCI6IjU3N...

However, Power BI does not offer process mining capabilities by default. Could someone please help me understand the best way to bring 'process mining' within Power BI?

Thanks

@ajrajes is your question about visuals that are produced or the actual process of process mining ? From what little I know process mining requires complex algorithms applied to the data. Power bi is your visualisation tool. While you can do data manipulation tasks in power bi you can't do complex algorithms that process mining requires. You should look at ways of doing it outside power bi and then importing final set of data for visualisation. You can consider other technologies from Azure eco system which blends in well with power bi.

@ankitpatira: thanks for your response. basically I am seeking a way of providing Process Mining visualiation to the users via Power BI. This will empower the business users to analyse their business using standard charts/graphs and analyse their business processes simultaneously using confiormed dimensions. If you can refer to the link below, KPMG has tried something similar (possibly using an API). I would be greatful if someone can advise on how I can achieve something similar. I understand that the process mining alrithms are complex, but there has to be a way to achive this technically 🙂

Hi @ajrajes, I'm not familiar with the specifics of what KPMG has exactly done here, but looks like they have included screen captures of some process mining tool in these slides and combined them with process performance figures which they most likely have crunched with Power BI.

Combining process mining with Power BI and MS Excel in general makes a lot of sense and although the algorithms behind it might be complex you don't need to worry about those if you use some ready made tool. Have a look at this video (https://player.vimeo.com/video/135555707?api=1) on how we have done it and check some more details from http://www.qpr.com/products/qpr-processanalyzer We offer a client running on top of Excel which naturally let's you then expand the usage of process mining with any Excel functionalities

Let me know if you want to hear more.

BR,

Mika

Having used QPR in my middle East project. I can certainly say that the functionalities of Power BI certainly exceeds those of QPR. Please dont promote your products when they don't have the necessary features.

Hi, can I ask you which view you used for process mining in Power BI?
