Problems connecting to on prem sharepoint list

We are using the on-premise data gateway and we are having problems connecting to an on-prem sharepoint list. Our sharepoint environment was upgraded from 2010 to 2013 and so we don't have the _api folder, but have the _vti_bin folder. When trying to setup the data source in powerbi.com we get:

Underlying error code:-2147467259
Underlying error message:SharePoint: Request failed (404): The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. (Cannot find resource for the request $metadata.)
DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingHResult:-2147467259
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.DataSourceKind:SharePoint
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.DataSourcePath:https://Site
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.Reason:DataSource.NotFound
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.SPRequestGuid:9f01fd9d-cdaf-60c6-12d2-29e3dd21eafb
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.Url:https://site/_api/web/$metadata

When we try and setup the data source in power bi desktop we get:

Details: "SharePoint: Request failed: The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request. (Bad Request)"

Any suggestions on what we can do to get past this issue?

Hi @jaylar,

You have gotten good ideas. Here is a post I find out in the forum. Maybe it's helpful. https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Integrations-with-Files-and/No-Sharepoint-List-detected/m-p/193093/...

And something you could check out:

1. Enter the root URL for the sharepoint site not including any subfolders.

2. Try "Folders" and "List".

3. Which URL do you use usually. Try the root URL.Problems connecting to on prem sharepoint list.jpg

Double check what URL you are connecting to. It should be something like:

www.MyAddress.com/MyFolder/

If your lists are something like:

www.MyAddress.com/MyFolder/MySubFolder/MySubSubfolder/

then you still only pass to power BI the
www.MyAddress.com/MyFolder/

Yeah I'm setting the URL to the base url of the site which contains the list - https;//site.com/sites/site

I've had some difficulty in connecting to libraries on SharePoint, which can look like lists.  Do you have more success if you choose "SharePoint Folder" instead?
