Hi,
If we want to have a super-secure version of power bi in our org, but also retain our existing version using public endpoints, can we spin up two versions of Power BI on a single tennant (one with private end-points and one with public endpoints), or do we need to set up a separate tennant with a version of Power BI that has private endpoints enabled.
Thanks,
Ben
Chatting with someone I believe you may deal with this by setting up two nodes in your Power BI instance, one using private links, and one not using private links, so this may be the solution. I will post here once I find out.
Hi. Are you talking about XMLA endpoint for Power Bi premiu? what are you expecting from "Public" endpoint?
We should know that because there is no such thing as public endpoint as a free way to connect without a user. So maybe you can explain us the idea of the "public endpoint" in your company.
The private endpoint can be done just publishing a dataset in a dedicated capacity (premium or embed) and turning on the dataset across workspaces in the Admin Portal under Tenant Settings.
Regards,
Happy to help!
Hi thanks for the reply,
What I am interested in is this as a super-secure set-up for the use of very sensitive data
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/admin/service-security-private-links
However, if we turn on the use of private end points, users can no longer access our power bi service over the public internet for analysis of less sensitive data.
So I was wondering if we can have one power bi service where all data access is based around private end points on secured vnets, and then another which is your vanilla flavoured power bi service. Do we need to have two separate tennants to do this.
What would be the high level architecture for such a solution?
Thanks for any help.
Hi Ben
I'm interested in the same question - did you get an answer or did you end up going with different tenants?
Thanks,
Stu
