PowerBI service not honoring SSAS live model configuration

We have several SSAS tabular model databases available in our on-prem SSAS 2019 instances which we can access without problem from both PowerBI Desktop and Service (through an enterprise gateway). Designing reports through the desktop version works as expected, we have access to perspectives, only the columns marked as Hidden = false are visible through the fields pane, etc... When we publish the dataset and try to create a report on the service from that dataset, neither the perspectives nor the hidden property of the columns seem to be recognized by the designer thus we end up with a list of fields that shows ALL the tables in the model and ALL the columns in those tables.

Most occasional users (the mayority in our tenant) are familiar with the online version of the designer and don't want or need to download and maintain the desktop version on their machines. The online designer itself seems to honor these settings if the data is imported into the service but fails to do so when a live connection is configured.

Is this some sort of glitch in our configuration or is it a feature missing in the platform at this point?

Hi @galaeci ,

This is a known issue(ICM# 264013598): hidden fields in Power BI report are showing up in Power BI service when the report is opened in Edit mode. Please be patient and if there are any updates, I will post them here.

Best Regards,
Winniz

Hi @galaeci

From what you are saying it appears that your SSAS 2019 version is a different version to Power BI Desktop and that is why it works in PBI desktop but not from SSAS 2019?

No, the same live connection is used both in the desktop and on the online service. Yet the service was not honoring the columns that were marked as hidden so the users can see the different keys in the underlying model when they connect. That was not the case with the desktop version.
