PowerBI dataset used in Excel, but session expires

Hi,

We use a PowerBi dataset in Excel for daily work meaning users have the Excel file open all day, but if they do not use the file for a period of time they get below error when they are using the file:

Then the user have to press OK before they can work again in the file.

What can we do here to avoid this?

Hi , @KasperJ90

As searched in document, i do not see the session resolution, it just said that:

If you receive a token expired error, it means you haven't recently used the Analyze in Excel feature on the computer you're using. Simply re-enter your credentials, or reopen the file, and the error should go away.

For more information, you can refer to :

But also I find some document about token lifetime, you can try to if it may help you:

Configurable token lifetimes - Microsoft Entra | Microsoft Learn

Hi , @KasperJ90

I think the reason for this warning message is because for security reasons, Power BI has a mechanism for AAD tokens to expire periodically every once in a while, because your Excel application needs to use AAD tokens to continuously send query access data to Power BI, and when a certain period of time is exceeded, the token will expire, so this error occurs.

Hi @v-yueyunzh-msft

Can I change this somehow?

I anoys the users when they open the file and make a pivot they can not edit that pivot 30 minutes later.
