I have created a Power BI Report with automatic refresh from a Data Gateway using my PRO License
I was expecting users of the FREE Power BI at least to be able to see the report, but Instead they receive an error message stating they need a PRO license since the report uses some PRO features...
Is this correct?
Should I have many PRO licenses just to see reports created with the PRO license??

Hi,
This has actually nothing to do with the May update.
Using a Gateway has since long been seen as PRO-feature by Microsoft and as soon as a report/dashboard is using any kind of PRO-feature all viewers of that report also requires a PRO-license.
And when it comes to the change that will take place on June 1st, any kind of sharing (or viewing a shared content) will require a PRO-license...

Hi @autodafe,
Yes, with latest update(May) by Microsoft user can't be able to share and view reports unless it is a PRO user.

Was it in the May update already? or is it going to happen in the June 1st update????
It was already in May update.
Thanks, do you have any official documentation? I cannot find it googling.
one or two months ago I suggested the power BI solution to a customer which has around 200 sales agent who only need read-only access to some reports, and they purchased a pack of 10 Pro licenses to start creating content. Now they discover they need an additional 200 Pro licenses.
Not good...

thanks @magsod this is what I needed to know. I believed that only "reading" a report created using a Gateway would not require a Pro license...
Hi @autodafe,
As the question is answered, could you accept the corresponding reply as solution to close this thread?
