Power BI service refresh not working- How can I set up my dataset connection

Hi,

I have a pbix file on Onedrive Business. It get data from: 1/ Excel files on Onedrive Business ( Get data-> Web) and 2/ Odata source.

I've then pubished report and data set to Power BI service.

The issue is when the data source update, the report on Power BI service is not refreshed, even I press "refresh" button. I can only have it update by refreshing the Power BI desktop file and then re-publish it to Power Bi service.

Is there any way to  set up so that Reports on Power BI service automatic updated when any change from my date sources, Or at least when I refresh on Service..Thank you.

Hi @daominhtri

Refresh for 1/ Excel files on Onedrive Business>>

To use a OneDrive for Business file as a data source in the Power BI service, with Service Refresh enabled for that file, make sure you select OAuth2 as the Authentication method when configuring your refresh settings.

You can also take a look at the following articles about refreshing Excel/dataset stored on OneDrive

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/refresh-desktop-file-onedrive

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/refresh-excel-file-onedrive

Refresh for 2/ Odata source>>

Because the data in the data source comes from an OData feed online, you do not need to install a gateway,

but you will need to go into the dataset’s settings and sign in to the OData data source.

You can then setup a refresh schedule so Power BI automatically connects to the OData feed and gets updated data.

Hi @v-juanli-msft,

Thank you for you reply.

Beside connect to Excel file on Onedrive and Odata source, my dataset also get data from other local files. This maybe prevents the auto refresh because after trying to put the local files to Onedrive, connect to them, then everything is refreshed well.

The reason I like to connect local file is to speed up my query.
