Power BI report not refreshing after publishing

I have a pbix which has a DirectQuery to SQL Server table and an import mode table also from SQL Server. I have enabled Automatic refresh every 2 seconds and it works fine on Power BI desktop but after publishing the report, the data doesnt automatically refresh as on Power BI desktop unless I manually refresh.

Please help me as I want the data to be automatically refreshes every 2 secinds on the publshed report as well.

Hi @sufiyanakhtar ,

You can set up automatic page refresh for reports that have been published to the Power BI service, provided that the data source is Direct Query.

If you want to configure the scheduled refresh to refresh the data, you need to follow the steps below.

Since your PBIX is a Direct Query to SQL Server table and an import mode table also from SQL Server, it will be a mixed model and it will perform a data refresh.

Firstly, connect to a gateway.

Then, you can configure scheduled refresh and set refresh frequency to daily or weekly.

There are some limitations.

On shared capacity: scheduled refresh can only refresh at most 8 times/day, and the maximum refresh duration is 2h.

On Premium capacity: scheduled refresh can only refresh at most 48 times/day, and the maximum refresh duration is 5h.

first the auto refreshing page option will give you a refresh on the report upon the data on the model itself does not refresh the data itself, the import mode tables need to schedule the refresh on the dataset itself first enter the dataset go to programmed refresh and turn it on and se the times it will update.

also datasets only auto refresh upon publising when theres a change that need the metadata and data to be reoload as when using parameters and its affected etc.
