Power BI free access to dashboard on modern SharePoint online webpart

I want all intranet users to be able to view a power bi dashboard in a modern power bi webpart on a sharepoint online communication site. Currently only pro license users can view it. How can i get access for all users, or all power bi free users? Is there any plan to make a dashboard available as view only for free users? The content is too sensitive to publish publically - especially because Microsoft's disclaimer says they might share this content publically.

Any/all help appreciated 🙂

Hi there

Currently as the licensing stands, you would be required to get Pro licenses if sharing from the Power BI Service.

The only other potential option is to use Power BI Embedded.

I don't imagine that'll work with modern SharePoint pages though huh?

Come on Microsoft, let's get cooking on some view only tiers.

I'm in the same boat. I simply want to use a SharePoint site webpart to enable our internal staff to securely share viewable only PowerBI reports but it seems to require each to have a Pro license. That's overkill! What use are the unlimited 'free' licenses? And, more to the point, how easy is it even to get PowerBI Embedded to work on a pay-as-you-go option if that's the only alternative?

Hi there

You would have to embed the Power BI reports into your application to get it working.

Here is a link to more details: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi-embedded/
