I have a Power BI Dataset in Premium capacity which is timing out during a refresh. It is reading about 10gb of data from an Azure SQL Database being accessed via an On-Premise gateway.
My first thought is that the Gateway machine is being over-utilised and so I have requested a new dedicated one built but while this is happening I have noticed some other strange behaviour; the refresh doesn't seem to be reading any data even though it is still continuing:
Azure SQL Db:
Does anyone know why this would be doing this?

Hi. I'm not sure what might be happening there. Be sure that the SQL DB is receiving and trying to respond the query. It looks like it doesn't even try to query the data.
Just for the heads up, if you dataset is growing over 10gb, you need to enable large datasets. More info: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/enterprise/service-premium-large-models
I hope that helps,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, we have that setting enabled.
Seems to be working back to normal now. As much as i'm pleased about it, it would have been nice to find out what was causing the continued processing with no read activity.
I'll post again if I it re-emerges and I get to the bottom of it!
