Power BI Usage

Hello All:

I have a requirement to check azure data usage. Users are refreshing their datasets from Azure Data Lake and importing data in to their power bi reports. But, this can be done by desktop users and users will refresh the report publiched in service. So, how can we track:

1) Which Users consumed data from ADL either by refreshing Power Bi dashboard or data set

Thanks In Advance.

Hi @Anonymous ,

According to your description, it seems like you want to trace more detail informations. You can ask your admin to turn on audit log option to get more detail informations for these datasets.

HI @Anonymous ,

According to your description, I think your requirement is more related azure, please do these trace operations on azure side.

Hi Sheng:

Thanks for the reply.

We are tracking Azure diagnostics to capture qwho is refreshing from the azure. However, from azure side we are able to retrieve only the user we are using to refresh the dataset and not the actual user refreshing the power bi report.

From Power BI Service - Dataset is scheduled and refreshed using service principle

Though we are tracking, we are getting only the service principle rather than the actual user that is using.

Please let me know if you need further details.

Thanks in advance.
