Power BI Streaming Dataset (Reset & Auto-refresh )

Hi 

1) Could you please share the documentation for clearing Power Bi Streaming Dataset Pro grammatically through Powershell /C# etc?

2)Increase the auto-refresh time of the published report (that contains the streaming dataset) on the web.

  Even if there is change in the streaming dataset , it takes time to refresh the published web version of the report. ( this could be due to the new releases to the power bi service, few months back, did not face this issue, But now it takes more than 10-15 minutes for refresh)

For the first question, based on my research, On a push dataset, you can use the delete rows REST API call. But there is currently no way to clear data from a streaming dataset, though the data will clear itself after an hour.You can find more information in this document: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-real-time-streaming#questions-and-answers

For the second question, Streaming datasets are designed for displaying the latest data. The custom streaming tiles that are based on a streaming dataset are optimized for quickly displaying real-time data. There is very little latency between when the data is pushed into the Power BI service and when the visual is updated. This is explained in the previous document, so the report will be nearly realtime.

But based on my research about publish to web, Data refreshes are automatically reflected in your embedded report or visual. It can take approximately one hour for refreshed data to be visible from embed codes. you can find more information about the publish to web here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-publish-to-web#data-refresh

Thank you for the response ..

This is with reference to question 1 above..

In Power  BI , there is the option 

Dataset --> Turn on/ Off  --> this clears off the Datarows instantly-- >changes are reflected instantly for the report hosted in Power BI service  (Not the web published one) .. This is where we need to login to Power Bi Service  and see the report..

So is that possible through 'deleterows' api  for streamig dataset in a Programmatic way ..

or any other way to do it programmatically..

It is basically the streaming dataset..

But according to this thread only push operation is allowed and delete is not possible to it

Accronig to the Document,the RESTful API (DeleteRows) is not support Basic Streaming Dataset yet currently. Sorry for that, but I also not found an effective solution to achieve your requirement, perhaps you can submit the requirement to ideas to make this feature coming sooner. https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas
