Power BI Service Gateway ODBC Connection string and FileMaker

Hello

Something alarming has just happened.

All was working until this last weekend.

I connect to a FileMaker database and the connection was working so that the automatic refreshes worked. Suddenly failed.

The error message includes this:

ISAMS_Gateway:

Unable to connect to the data source undefined.

Underlying error code:

-2147467259

Underlying error message:

ODBC: ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

NB

In 'Data Source Setting',  have put into the Connection string the System DSN.

Appreciate assistance!!

John

HI @John4Roberta ,

It will be help if you provide more detailed error messages.(e.g. refresh history, detailed error message, snapshot..)

In addition, this error message seems related to configured datasource.

Have you try to update your gateway to latest version or remove old datasource and create a new one to instead?

Regards,

Xiaoxin Sheng

Good morning Xiaoxin

Thank you for your assistance.

Tthe fuller error message is:

Underlying error code-2147467259 Table: Quartile.
Underlying error messageODBC: ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingHResult-2147467259
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.DataSourceKindOdbc
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.DataSourcePathdsn=BRY-FMSERVER-PupilSubjectIndic
Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.ReasonDataSource.Error

The refresh history simple shows functioing before the weekend fine and no failing.

We do use the latest Gateway. I have other PBI datasets that have fallen over becuase of this same issue.
So it surely is unlikely that deleteting the datasource and recreating would overcome?

Hi there

It would appear that it is the source name for the ODBC driver is either missing in the PBIX or on the Gateway server?

Thank you Gilbert

Reckon it is ODBC on the Gateway Server that is the issue.

Do you have some guidance/loink to assist me with getting it on the Gateway Server?

John

Hi there

You should log into the Gateway Server, open up the ODBC connections and make sure that the ODBC connection exists and works from the Gateway Server.

This might assist you https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/Enterprise-Gateway-with-ODBC/td-p/98959

OK Gilbert

Sounds quite straight forward. Our network manager if unavailable until next week.

Will report back on my progress here then.

Thanks

Hi there

I would have a look on your Gateway server that you can successfully connect via the ODBC connection

Morning Gilbert

Thank you for your suggestion.

How do I do this?

Presumably MS have recently tightened up security, so that what had been working no longer is.
